John is a founding partner at River Birch Wealth Management. Throughout his 30 year-long career he has guided individuals and businesses toward financial security. John served his country as an Air Force Missile Launch officer and after the military, he transitioned into business, advising clients through various bank wealth management departments, which included the management of private banking consultants and wealth management advisors.
John is a graduate of Charleston Southern University and holds securities licenses 7, 63, 65 and 24. He also holds a Master of Administration (MSA) from Central Michigan University and a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designation, which focusses on retirement planning.
He is an active member of his community by serving on the board of Junior Achievement and teaching in the public-school classrooms. He is a national certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and volunteers with the Vinton, VA First Aid Crew. John and Lila made Roanoke their home 18 years ago and live at Smith Mt. Lake. He has four beautiful children and four grandchildren. John and Lila enjoy fishing and camping with their grandchildren and appreciate the beauty of the Roanoke Valley.
